How to trade with OpenClaw

Short answer: OpenClaw connects to OpenFinance as a remote MCP server. Run openclaw mcp add openfinance --url https://api.openfinance.tech/agent/mcp --transport streamable-http, check it with openclaw mcp doctor openfinance --probe, and your OpenClaw agent (and any chat channel it's wired to) can trade crypto, onchain stocks, forex, memecoins and Polymarket.

How OpenClaw connects to tools

OpenClaw keeps MCP servers under mcp.servers in ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json. You can add one from the Control UI (Settings → MCP → Add server) or the CLI. Remote servers need transport: "streamable-http" (the default is SSE), plus optional headers or auth: "oauth" with openclaw mcp login. Skills are separate from MCP; OpenFinance plugs in as MCP, not as a skill.

Set up OpenClaw in under 60 seconds

  1. Run the command below.
  2. Add your key as a header in the Control UI's config editor (use a ${OPENFINANCE_API_KEY} reference, not a literal).
  3. Run openclaw mcp doctor openfinance --probe; it should list tools.
  4. Send your agent “list OpenFinance tools”.
  5. Optional: --include to expose only quote tools on public channels.

FAQ

Why do I need --transport streamable-http?
OpenClaw defaults remote servers to SSE. OpenFinance speaks Streamable HTTP, so set it explicitly.

Is there an OpenFinance skill on ClawHub?
Not that we know of. Use the MCP server; a ClawHub skill could wrap it later.

How do I check the connection?
openclaw mcp doctor openfinance --probe opens a live session and lists tools. Saving the config alone proves nothing.

Can I keep the key out of config?
Yes. Use ${OPENFINANCE_API_KEY}; doctor warns about literal secrets.

Can OpenClaw trade from Ray-Ban Meta glasses?
