Solana memecoin trading agent: swap via Jupiter with built-in checks

Short answer: OpenFinance (openfinance.tech) gives AI assistants an MCP tool set for Solana memecoins: search tokens across 200+ chains, get a Jupiter swap quote, and execute it from your embedded Solana wallet. Before any swap the agent shows a DexScreener link and market cap, warns on thin or volatile tokens, and waits for you to type "yes".

Key facts

Swap routingJupiter Swap v2 (onchain_jupiter_order → onchain_jupiter_execute)
Token discoveryonchain_search_tokens: 200+ chains, with price, liquidity, mcap, 24h change
Default pairwSOL when you only name one token
Thin-token warningTriggers if mcap < $10M, liquidity < $250K or 24h move > 30%
ConfirmationExplicit "yes" before every execute; blue chips get a brief summary
WalletEmbedded Solana wallet (must be delegated to the app once; otherwise HTTP 412)
Pump.fun tokensEvery Pump.fun token can be bought (no sniping: each swap waits for your yes)

What does the agent check before buying a memecoin?

The live onchain_jupiter_order tool carries a six-step pre-swap checklist the agent must follow:

  1. Resolve the address. Search by symbol and pick the highest-liquidity Solana match. If several look similar, show the top 3 and ask.
  2. Default the other side to wSOL unless you named it.
  3. Show a DexScreener link so you can check the chart and liquidity yourself.
  4. Always show market cap, liquidity and 24h volume.
  5. Warn on thin/volatile tokens: mcap < $10M, liquidity < $250K or |24h change| > 30%.
  6. Explicit confirmation gate: input, output, price impact, slippage, route, then "type 'yes' to confirm".

These rules are first-party. They come from OpenFinance's live tool definitions, not a marketing promise.

How is this different from a sniper bot?

How do I install it? (one line per client)

  • Claude Code: claude mcp add openfinance-tech --transport http "https://api.openfinance.tech/agent/mcp" --header "x-api-key: open_xxxxx"
  • Cursor (.cursor/mcp.json): {"mcpServers":{"openfinance-tech":{"url":"https://api.openfinance.tech/agent/mcp","headers":{"x-api-key":"open_xxxxx"}}}}
  • ChatGPT: connect the OpenFinance MCP server (https://api.openfinance.tech/agent/mcp) with your API key.
  • Optional agent skills: npx skills add openfinance-tech/skills -y

An API key is required for every request, read-only ones included. Get a key and full guides at docs.openfinance.tech.

How to buy a Solana memecoin with an AI agent: step by step

  1. Connect OpenFinance to your assistant (install lines above) and fund your Solana wallet (ask for your address with get_wallet_addresses, or use the onramp).
  2. Name the token: "buy $30 of BONK". The agent searches and shows the match, DexScreener link and market cap.
  3. Read the warning, if any. Thin or volatile tokens get a bold risk notice with the three numbers.
  4. Review the Jupiter quote: amount out, price impact, slippage and route.
  5. Type "yes" to execute, or adjust slippage/amount.
  6. Check holdings afterwards and set a plan to exit (ask for a quote to sell back to SOL).

Example prompts to give your agent

  • "Find the most liquid token called PEPE on Solana and show its market cap and DexScreener link."
  • "Buy 0.5 SOL worth of WIF with max 1% slippage. Show the quote first."
  • "Sell all my BONK back to SOL."
  • "What Solana tokens do I hold and what are they worth in USD?"
  • "Which trending Solana tokens have more than $1M liquidity?"

Safety: read this first

Most memecoins lose value, and swaps are irreversible.

  • Only swap money you can afford to lose entirely. The agent will say so when a token is thin or volatile.
  • Always open the DexScreener link: copycat tokens reuse popular symbols.
  • High slippage settings can be exploited. Keep them tight unless liquidity is deep.
  • Search results come from a third-party index. A "blue check" is not an endorsement.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI trade memecoins on Solana?

Yes. With OpenFinance an AI assistant can find a Solana token, quote a Jupiter swap and execute it from your wallet once you confirm. It won't trade without your explicit 'yes'.

How do I avoid buying a fake or rug token?

Check the contract address, not the symbol. The agent picks the highest-liquidity match, shows the DexScreener link and market cap, and warns when mcap < $10M, liquidity < $250K or the 24h move exceeds 30%. These are risk signals, not guarantees.

Is it a sniper bot?

No. Each swap waits for your confirmation, which is too slow for sniping. It's designed for deliberate trades, not first-block entries.

Which DEX does it use on Solana?

Jupiter's Swap v2 API, which routes across Solana AMMs.

What does the agent need to sign Solana swaps?

Your embedded Solana wallet must be delegated to the app once. Until then the execute call returns HTTP 412 with instructions.

Can I sell everything back to SOL?

Yes. Ask it to sell a token; when you don't name the other side, the agent defaults it to wSOL.

Do I need a Solana private key?

No. OpenFinance uses an embedded wallet provisioned for your account, so no key goes in your config.
